Linton Carter

Board Member

Linton Carter is a mission-driven leader and has had various executive leadership roles at some of Canada’s leading charities. Linton has recently joined Trans Canada Trail as their Chief Development Officer, responsible for elevating the organization’s philanthropic efforts as a member of the senior management team. Prior to joining Trans Canada Trail, she was UNICEF Canada’s Chief Strategic Engagement Officer from February 2017 to March 2024. This role led UNICEF Canada’s efforts to engage Canadians in UNICEF’s work supporting the delivery of the global strategy to 2025, Mobilizing Canada For Every Child. Linton created a new team and structure and led the change management that brought together the stand-alone functional areas (fundraising, marketing, and communications) into a brand-new portfolio focused on brand, supporter engagement, integrated campaigns, and sustainable revenue.

Linton has led board governance, revenue and partnership strategy development, fundraising, grants, volunteer development, and community engagement teams at Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, YMCA of Greater Toronto, and SickKids Foundation. She is a passionate and talented not-for-profit executive and leader, dedicating the last 24 years to creating impact for children and youth. Before working in the charitable sector, she spent the first 10 years of her career working in corporate communications and on corporate social responsibility teams at Royal Bank (RBC), Hudson’s Bay Company and Foresters.

Linton served as a member of UNICEF’s global fundraising strategy group working on growing private sector engagement around the world and has had a full volunteer career serving on the Boards of Bishop’s University Foundation and the Asperger’s Society of Ontario, and as a service volunteer at Campfire Circle and Branksome Hall.

Linton’s passion for purpose and philanthropy both personally and professionally has enabled her to develop strong executive leadership skills and deep volunteer, donor, and organizational relationships that have resulted in greater social impact and, more importantly, a better world.

Linton completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Women’s Studies from Bishop’s University and earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. She is married to an educator and has two adult sons.
